Over the next year I am going to go over each sign individually. What I am going to cover is the essence of each sign and how it represents the solar qualities in each of us. The Sun represents the “brightest” you in Astrology; it also represents the will and the ego. I would also like to say that sun sign Astrology is a broad generalization of many people. Getting caught up too much in your Sun sign can lose the true healing of what Astrology is all about. That being said, in Astrology we have ALL twelve signs that “color” us in our being. Meaning in some way or another each of the signs are touching us in a specific way. The Astrological birthchart is segmented into 12 parts called Houses. Even if a particular house is empty a specific sign rules that house. You take the Signs, House and Planets and you have the base of how to understand Astrology.

This month I am going to cover Gemini.

Whenever I think of the word communicate I think of Gemini. Gemini with its wondrous verbal artistry combines the layers of intellect with the vision of the soul. Gemini soars through the air and imparts what it has learned on the masses for dissimilation.

Gemini is the 3rd sign of the Zodiac.

Gender: Masculine

Element: air

Ruling planet: Mercury

Ruling Body Parts: Lungs, Pairs of the body.

The Sun goes into Gemini from approximately 5/20 to 6/21. (Please note that the Sun goes into each sign at varying times each year. This year if you live on the East Coast the Sun goes into Gemini on 5/20 at 11:33 PM.) The glyph or symbol of Gemini represents the Roman Numeral 2 (II). The Roman Numeral II shows the dual nature of the sign Gemini. In ancient Greek mythology Gemini was found in the sky by two stars that were very close together. Castor and Pollux. Castor and Pollux were born of Leda who was impregnated by Zeus who disguised himself as a Swan. Leda gave birth to two eggs. Out of one of those eggs Castor and Pollux were born.

Castor was the mortal son of Zeus and Pollux was the immortal son of Zeus. Even though both were twins the dual nature the sign represents lives on today. There is a space that we go when we are looking for knowledge and in that space we look for the answers that drive the burden away from the soul. The twins understand that it takes a combined effort to ignite the imagination and intellect that gives us the purpose to communicate the effort that we all are sharing. It is from this perspective that Gemini shines because he is allowed the unification of the two forms of communicating. Those forms are a bridge that adds insight to what the Gemini is trying to convey.

They are first listening, perceiving and absorbing the information that is at hand. Then synergetically explaining that information with its vast array of understanding and insight. Then as the lower half (Castor) combines with the upper half (Pollux) the perfection of the Gemini energy is had. You can also see the combination of the Left and Right half’s of the brain as the ultimate destination of the destiny of the Gemini.

Gemini falls into the shadow when it uses its mighty intellect to try and prove to people how much they know. They turn away from synergy and feeling and only allow the left-brain to guide them into the direction of pontification. The dogma of Gemini in shadow is different from its polarity Sagittarius in that it doesn’t matter the topic. While the Sagittarius usually has a specific truth to defend the Twins want to show they know as much as you do about any topic. Using their verbal dexterity they can berate their adversary with a barrage of verbal attacks. Then the unsuspecting person finally just gives in with exhaustion. This only falls into the trap of Gemini in it’s shadow.

Gemini is here to communicate plane and simple. They are designed in some way or another to inform the populace of something that is useful. They are the teachers, the writers, sales person, comedian and public address announcer. The more they have to share the more they feel at home. They can orate or imitate most anyone and are at home with all the mental images one can convey in life. In relationships you will always know where you stand with a Gemini. One of the things that can dampen the enthusiasm of the fun you can have with a Gemini is its flirty nature. Gemini is one of the biggest flirts of all the signs so if you are a jealous person you will have many lessons to learn form a Gemini on how to except sharing your love. Gemini’s are fun and you definitely want them on your debate team. They will be the trivia buff and a pal you can be sure that will keep the conversation going to the wee hours of the night.
